Man arraigned for stealing 46 cows

One Amuda Usman has been arraigned before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for stealing 46 cows.

The 50-year-old was said to have conspired with others still at large to perpetrate the crime in the Capital area of Osogbo.

He was arraigned on two counts of conspiracy and stealing.

According to the charges, Usman conspired with others at large to steal the animals belonging to one Afolabi Babatunde and valued at N4.5m.

The offences were said to have been committed between July 2018 and August 2019.


The offences, according to the prosecutor, are contrary to and punishable under sections 516 and 390 (3) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Vol. 2, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

Usman pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His counsel, Okobe Najite, made an oral application for his bail, but Magistrate Risikat Olayemi directed him to file a written application.

Olayemi ordered that the accused be remanded in the Ilesa Correctional Centre pending the filing of the formal bail application.

She adjourned the case till December 6, 2019, for hearing.
